Web hosting services?

As I battle to get my site back up at its previous location, I find myself constantly banging my head against a brick wall with service failure after service failure. The whole reason that it was hosted where it was, is that it was free for me to host it there. This is proving to be a mistake!

Anyway, I think the time has come to have the site hosted somehwre else. Does anyone have any suggestions of somewhere decent to put it. The hosting service must be cheap as it is not a commercial site and I'm simply not in a position to pay high costs for hosting it.

Stick,

Hosting is a delicate matter and cannot be based on pricing alone. Poor up-time for the website -- and it does not matter how cheap it is, you know ;-)

I've hosted with Cyberwurx since 1998 - and I HIGHLY recommend them:

CyberWurx Hosting (packages starting at 9.95 $ / month)

Another reliable:

BlueGravity Hosting

You can find a full list of hosts at c|net here:

c|net : Hosting Providers (this is however hit & miss, IMHO)

More on hosting providers (with guidelines, tutorials, interviews etc)here:

Hosts4Porn (not in anyway implying your site is, but they know their stuff here & can handle far worse than monkey-jokes wink.gif" border="0 )

Good luck!

The above suggestion looks good to me. If you are looking for something else, I use brinkster for free (www.brinkster.com). It gives you 30 MB. I actually have already four different sites there, with the same e-mail address, seems to be no problem (that is a total of 120 MB) It is a site catering to ASP, but of course you can just post HTML files only. They have a paid service for domain names, that offers 60 MB, at a price of 12-13 dollars per month.

There are occasional small hiccups with the free site, however in general uploading files etc. is quite forward and rapid. I suppose the paid site will have less hiccups, and will allow you ftp-uploading.

Thanks to everyone for the replies to my original post. As it turned out, I have been made a very kid offer by some fellows from an Internet design and hosting company based down under and with a bit of luck, my site will be hosted with them shortly. Fortunately, it is back up at the old (usual) address, only down for ten days....
