preahko
What's interesting is reading the list of 35 provinces in which martial law has NOT been lifted. though it's not surprising: overwhelmingly Isaan, the North, the South...places where the central thais have long put peoples from other cultures and languages under their rule, and so where resistance is most likely to come from (except for the South, also all areas in which Thaksin has always enjoyed a fair amount of support)... preahko
Fidel
This is very interesting and fits in with the story I posted earlier about middle class central Thais being fearful of the rising political power of the provincial farming crowd... dddave
It'd be interesting to see a list of the results from the last election and match the provinces and districts that had the highest Taksin pluralities against this martial law list. Flashermac
Northern and northeastern provinces, except for the far south. But even so, city dwellers in the north voted against Mr T. Is a bit telling though.
Flashermac
<< This is very interesting and fits in with the story I posted earlier about middle class central Thais being fearful of the rising political power of the provincial farming crowd. >> Chawalit was a poor boy from Isaan. His party's slogan was "Isaan for the Khon Isaan". Don't know that he did f*ck all for them though. Sarit Thanarat was another Isaan fella. Once again, he just seemed interested in making himself rich.
