khunsanuk Posted December 4, 2001 Report Posted December 4, 2001 Hi, Just wondering if anybody has send me email lately to which I did not respond. I have been getting a lot of blank email lately. Problem is I don't know if this is the result of a virus or some other problem. All the email addresses have an _ as first character. With it they are not valid, without they work, yet I have not received any replies from the people I replied to. Any insight would be appreciated. Sanuk!
Stickman Posted December 4, 2001 Report Posted December 4, 2001 That funny email virus with the blank attachment which isn't blank may have something to do with it... Stick
khunsanuk Posted December 4, 2001 Author Report Posted December 4, 2001 Hi, Nah, I doubt it. I never open attachments from people I don't know. I most of the time don't even open attachments I did not ask for, even if I know the person sending it to me. Furthermore, I use Eudora, which does not automatically open attachments. Sanuk!
Guest Posted December 5, 2001 Report Posted December 5, 2001 Delete those mails khun sanuk theres a vÃrus attack going on with mails that starts with an underscore _ . It contains a .pif file wich is a trojan for a virus called Bad trans something. If you are infected it can monitor your keystrokes and sniffs for passwprds e.t.c then send's them out to a hacker. If u dont ahave a virus scanner or not recently upgraded it I suggest you do that.I just helped my dad who was attack in exact the same way just a few days ago thats why I know. Just thought of inform you I know they have further info on symantecs homepage for example. Good luck!
Straycat Posted December 5, 2001 Report Posted December 5, 2001 You're probably receiving the following e-mail worm, Badtrans. You can read up on it here: Symantec Security Response :: Badtrans Straycat -- Currently receiving well over 400 virus e-mails, of different shape and form, a day!
