Palatkik Posted December 30, 2006 Report Share Posted December 30, 2006 Fire at Bo Bae under control after 8 hours (Bangkokpost.com) A big fire broke out at Bo Bae garment market for eight hours Friday night, damaging 70 to 80 households in the area. The fire broke out at 8:45 p.m. at the first floor of a six-storey building that was used as a warehouse stocking clothes. Firefighters were able to control the fire at 5 a.m. on Saturday. There are no reports of casualties as police have not investigated inside buildings that were burnt down for fear they would collapse. Some of the buildings have already been collapsed, police said. About 50 fire engines were fighting the fire since last night. Although the fire has been extinguished, firefighters still let water run through the building to prevent any eruption. Pathumwan district has set up an aiding unit at Barom Niwas temple since the morning to provide help for the fire victims. One of my wife's cousins lost everything in this fire as well, including 9.5 Baht of gold (likely her life's savings). All she has left are the clothes on her back. Sanuk! One of my wife's cousins lost everything in this fire as well, including 9.5 Baht of gold (likely her life's savings). All she has left are the clothes on her back. Sanuk! does she have insurance KS? From what I hear, no These are poor people (my wife said she worked in the factory that burned down) making just enough to make ends meet - barely. I have no idea what the future for her holds.
