Thanks for that website, I had it at some stage, but lost it in a harddrive crash.

Pix bring back sweet memories of time spent at TawanDaeng with my ex GF Nok, about 5-6 years ago. She went up on stage and sang a song herself, I think i've never seen her so happy, just radiating.

BTW, with the dissappearance of Thai3, we have had very little info on Morlam here recently. I am still interested in a good source of information (IN ENGLISH) about times and location of good concerts, in BKK or Isan , by the likes of jintara Puhlap Or Siriporn Ampaipong.

Anyone here can help me?

Indeed hard to find info on concerts..

BTW, if any of you are plannign to check out TawanDaeng Pattanakarn, please be aware you are not in Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy. Don't assume that because the majority of girls there will be happy to dance with you and be friendly that they are "available." Every time I go there is always at least one farang who comes in with his "bargirl" and 10 of her "friends." Nothing is more embarassing than watching him grope and paw away as though he is in a gogo bar...

Just to get the thread back to the title subject(!) as I had no question about the Pattanakarn Tawan Daeng :-)

Finally got out the Ramintra Tawan Daeng German Brewhouse to give it's full name - it's only been open a year so if you went there before that it must have been somewhere else!

The place was packed as Carabao were on. I hadn't seen them before and they certainly outclassed all the early lame cover acts. The Thai classical band Fong Nam on earlier also seemed to be a permanent fixture there and whilst good, they seemed to play little. Would have preferred more of them and less of the female and male vocalist cover acts. None of the special shows or atmosphere of the Rama 3 branch and shows were lacking this night perhaps because of Carabao, who were themselves very good.

I'll give it a try again sometime when there aren't any big names on and see if it can match the Rama 3 experience.

Good to hear a report about the new one, I had not even known of its coming. I find when a famous band is playing is not really the best time to go to these type places unless you are really into that particular band because the shows will be minimal and the place overpacked and it's hard enough to get a good table without that. I like the variety of a more normal night.

One of the best shows I have seen was Pattanakarn Tawan Daeng on Chinese New Year. Amazing acts all night. The one that stood out is they seemed to have hired Chinese girl acrobats who could basically juggle tables with their feet. Amazing stuff.

One note about the food at Tawan Daeng German. The beers are awesome and the food too from a western palette or central Thai. But your typical Isaan "date" may not like it as much.

Mrs. Hippie #2 and I went to the Tawan Deng on Rama III awhile back when some big Luk tung band was playing...we were there earlier, caught the farang cover band, and stayed for the main event...while it was good, the crowd did change drastically, and she made the comment "hope these tech school kids don't get violent..." It was a bit scarey vibe at times.
