gene1944
I recall that Francis Ford Coppola was visiting Bangkok for a film festival 2 or 3 years ago and the Bkk papers carried a story about his wanting to release Suriyothai to the US audience. He said that it needed to be shortened considerably for the US. Was it ever released in the US? I have never heard anything further about it. Maybe it was just an attention grabber for the film festival?
Palatkik
It was reportedly released back in 2003. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290879/releaseinfo
chuckwoww
Yes it was released in the US with a few changes. Brad Pitt and Scarlet Johanson played the leads. Arab terrorists disguised as space aliens threatened to blow everybody up but Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum arrived to save the world. It still didn't do very well though. Most critics blame the sub-titles.

Pasko
I saw it as well (back in 2003) it was ok---could have done with more nudity, IMHO.
Old Hippie
I have a copy of it...I liked the longer original better...the condensed version seemed to leave out a few of the subtilties...
Flashermac
You're confusing it with 'Snatch' ... which at times did require subtitles.
