exit2dos
I need a 220V to 110 V voltage converter 1000 watts. For a water distiller. Anyone know where or what?
pe7e
You could use a 1.5kV Portable Transformer or similar, usually found in building supply merchants and large hardwear stores and/or tool merchants.
..
Emporium Power Mall used to have them. I got one for my US fridge a few years back. Cheers, SD

Mekong
1 KW seems a little high for a water distiller, even a Unit like This is only 550W. I paid 500 THB for a 250 Watt Xfrmr 2-3 months ago for the Nintendo WII, I was quoted 300 THB of 100 Watt, I would expect 1 KW would be 800-900 THB
Denarius
I found that water from a distiller tasted bad. Get a Big Berkey - it does not need power. I think the stainless steel ones are better than the plastic ones. I think plastic leaches. http://www.arkinstitute.com/BigBerkey.htm (This is not where i bought mine, just for a link for some info.)
exit2dos
The specs are stamped on the bottom of my unit. It says 800 Watt at 110 V. I'm adding 200 Watts for the little cooling fan and a safety margin, just in case they didn't figure that in. It distills 1 gallon at a time. The taste is okay and the water is totally pure. exit2dos
Call me old fashioned but I think distilling is safer. As long as I've got ac power and already have the electric distiller, why not use it?
Denarius
Being totally pure water means that it is very agressive (like an acid). It can acidify your body and absorb the minerals from your body. A berkey water filter will leave the minerals in the water, and filter out chemicals and pathogens.
exit2dos
I never heard of that before but thanx for the tip. Maybe a multiple vitamin with magic minerals will solve it. Or some fruit juice. It's just that I know the steam/heat process will kill e coli, etc. I don't trust a filter as much.
