Shibuya
Well i have a friend coming to visit who is a veggie and also a picky eater (what a pain in the arse) anyway one of the things he will eat is Indian food (he doesnt trust that the Thais wont sneak some meat juice into his thai food) I have heard of a few Southern Indian veggie places around Sukhumvit, but can never find them. Anyone know? cheers
Neo
There is actually a vegan (yes vegan) Indian restaurant called Chennai kitchen near the Indian temple on Silom road. It is southern indian style. There are also several other Indian restaurants in that area. Check this link to find it and others: http://www.happycow.net/asia/thailand/bangkok/index.html
samak
all Indian restaurants can well cater to a veggie! if he says he is vegeterian, they will make sure that he does not get anything what is not. no need to go to a "veggie place"! and there are so many indian restaurant on Sukhumvit... Nervous_Dog
There was a Vegetarian only Indian restaurant beside country road 2 - Soi 19 I think, sadly gone, but great. Problem in Thailand for vegetarians is Thais cook using Fish Sauce as a salt substitute a lot, and it ain't kosher according to the veggies DOG
Shibuya
Yeah there is a lot of indian restaurants on the Suk, the they are usually overpriced and rather underwhelming in my experience, they seem to be there for the UK lager lads rather than the local indians. I have been told the specialist places are much better Ive just remembered putting chicken stock in a soup i made for my veggie friend without telling him, and i once told my sister she was eating a quorn and mushroom pie, when it was actually chicken. i forgot i was such a cunt
MooNoi
Shibuya, Just as a diversion from the Indian food, (and you probably know this but anyway...) If you want a quick lunch and you're around NEP or Cowboy then Subway make completely vegetarian sandwiches, so another option for you.
Flashermac
All of the Sukhumwit Injun places are a bit upmarket. There is even a nice one on Soi Nana - if you keep walking past the bars and such. For inexpensive Injun food and real "atmosphere", go to Pahurat (the Indian "ghetto"). Flashermac
p.s. Go to the Fish & Chips at Soi Cowboy and get a cheese and mushroom pie! Accompany it with chips and mushy peas.
