On Asian runs they'll often have youngish Asian hostesses. It's the domestic flights that are the crappiest. They can do it because those are lucrative routes. Domestic travelers' date=' foreigners included, will sit on a plane with milk crates, instead of seats, to save $50. The drop in decent service started with the first airline price war. You can fly round trip, now, from JFK to Lax, for $400 or less and get FF miles. That's cheaper than 1970. And you want free drinks? No wonder it sucks. No one wants to pay a fair price. The airlines will continue to suck and go in and out of bancruptcy. As far as old stewardesses. They're working people, trying to support their families, with tiny salaries. Mostly, they work for a crappy medical HMO health insurance policy that is barely adequate. I'd like to see lovely young asian girls on every flight. But where are the veteran flight attendants, who did that hard thankless job for 20 years supposed to go? Fire them? They have no pensions now, after Ronnie Raygun made it possible for corporations to go bancrupt and cancel labor contracts and obligations. So just tell them they are old, sod off to dig a grave and jump in it to die. Or get a shopping cart and pick up cans on the street. Ronnie also fired all the union air traffic controllers, who were on strike, and hired all new ones, That was in his first week, in office. Now those guys are mostly ready to retire, at the same time. And Fuck the politicians who allow the laws to fuck workers, airline and otherwise! Do you work for an airline? The bottom line is, people will put up with shit and not care as long as they get a cheap flight. Then of course they will bitch that it isn't "Ritza service/emmenities" At Motel 6 prices.
