wonderlust
Most illuminating, thank you! As a broadband junkie I would suffer withdrawal symptoms without being able to download the latest 700MB XViD movie in 20 minutes. For basic stuff though it sounds like EDGE would suffice. tree187
Yes, thanks for that Edge info. Download speed is not so much of a problem because I just want it for emailing and a touch of surfing. Nevertheless it's all good info. By the way does anyone else think that basially in the last 10 years we haven't really advanced that much in technology. Personally I think it's a disgrace that all laptops aren't built with always on modems connecting to some mobile network all for a few $ a month. They put a man on the moon nearly 40 years ago and right now it's hard to get a download speed greater than a telephone modem. Fucking stupid if you ask me. shygye
NO! 10 years ago were their WiFi hotspots? G3 networks are coming online, but it takes a big investment by the cell companies.

wonderlust
Is it true you need a driver's licence and work permit to get a DTAC unlimited post-pay contract? If so I'm screwed because I have neither. Sounds like one of those "Oops I forgot to tell you" moments.
tree187
Wonder No, check out that site a few posts back, you can get pre-pay easily, they've got PDFs explaining it all.
Mekong
Tree the question was related to Post-Paid not Pre-Paid Is it true you need a driver's licence and work permit to get a DTAC unlimited post-pay contract? Wonder, I am not sure of the current requirements but I remember in the past a WP was a requirement for a Post-Paid account with DTAC, AIS and Orange (True). Phone wise I have had the same Post-Paid number with AIS for about 10 years now, it has been in the name of an ex-wife, to ex-GF's current wife and now I have a WP mine. wonderlust
If you want to keep your connection on all day then pre-pay would be way too expensive (over 40,000 baht a month if you left it on 24/7). As you need a work permit for post-pay then it's a non-starter for me and I guess most people on this board who would be interested in using it.
