samak
as the old trick to ask for 500 THB for the airport tax (my flight leaves in 20 minutes and i have no thai baht left) does not work anymore, they come with new stories!
The_Munchmaster
He only asked for Baht 50 or 100. Didn't seem like much of a scam.

wonderlust
I'll have you know that I gave a beggar £4 at Euston train station on 30 December last year (and he was black!). So never let it be said that the Scots are tight. He wanted it to buy a Burger King meal but as soon as I gave him the money he legged it off somewhere else (probably to buy some booze). I remember reading a few years back that London beggars earn quite a bit above the minimum wage so he would have been earning more than the poor kids in Burger King earning half the adult minimum wage. shygye
and when was the last time you gave Bt100 to a non-western beggar? I doubt I ever have. What's your point' date=' I didn't consider this guy to be a beggar? so indeed, there is a sucker born every minute. I gave someone £1.50 and that makes me a sucker? Okay, you're a little sucker instead of a big sucker. :smirk: I wonder if it is the Dutch guy that was begging at BTS stations. Maybe he finally got enough money for a KA ticket.

IMHO they DESERVE that! look at their hardship: wearing poor clothes, stay unwashed for several days, grovelling gestures towards plain stupid tourists...
