I had one about grain farmers using cereal banks but your cocopops was better.

I didn't know it until now, but I guess they do!

[color:blue]Cereal Banks are probably the earliest form of banking institution. Thousands of years before Christ the Egyptians already knew a system of paying receipts based in amounts of wheat deposited in a warehouse administered by the state. The administration the amount deposited by each farmer. The value is determined by noting the quantity and quality and the year of the harvest. The farmer is thus insured against the dangers of robbery, fire, flood, drought, etc. The high cost of storage is thus shared between many farmers paying small amounts.[/color]

The title of the song actually refers to the flag.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

All Americans please stand

If Australia had better national anthems I might be a bit more patriotic. AAF is woeful and Waltzing Matilda embarrassing.

There was one around a few years ago called the The Song of Australia That we used to sing at school that would have made a better national anthem.

Personally I like "This Land is Your Land" best of the US anthems.

Sally called when she got the word,

She said: "I suppose you've heard -

About Alice".

Well I rushed to the window,

And I looked outside,

But I could hardly believe my eyes -

As a big limousine rolled up

Into Alice's drive...

Oh, I don't know why she's leaving,

Or where she's gonna go,

I guess she's got her reasons,

But I just don't want to know,

'Cos for twenty-four years

I've been living next door to Alice.

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Twenty-four years just waiting for a chance,

To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance,

Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice...

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Grew up together,

Two kids in the park,

Carved our initials,

Deep in the bark,

Me and Alice.

Now she walks through the door,

With her head held high,

Just for a moment, I caught her eye,

As a big limousine pulled slowly

Out of Alice's drive.

Oh, I don't know why she's leaving,

Or where she's gonna go,

I guess she's got her reasons,

But I just don't want to know,

'Cos for twenty-four years

I've been living next door to Alice.

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Twenty-four years just waiting for a chance,

To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance,

Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice...

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Sally called back, asked how I felt,

She said: "I know how to help -

Get over Alice".

She said: "Now Alice is gone,

But I'm still here,

You know I've been waiting

For twenty-four years..."

And the big limousine disappeared...

I don't know why she's leaving,

Or where she's gonna go,

I guess she's got her reasons,

But I just don't want to know,

'Cos for twenty-four years

I've been living next door to Alice.

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Twenty-four years just waiting for a chance,

To tell her how I feel, and maybe get a second glance,

But I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice...

Alice, who the fuck is Alice

Now I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice...

I prefer the Kevin "Bloody" Wilson Version personally
