Flashermac
Several people have already refused to carry the torch, including the King's cousin. They'll find somebody though - probably Samak and Thaksin. Maybe Mr Happy Toilet too.
rogueyam
Just got back from this evening's pro-Tibet rally in San Francisco. It was fantastic. Music, dancing, chanting, prayers and speeches from many including Richard Gere and Desmond Tutu. Tomorrow will be interesting to say the least. Everyone tonight emphasized non-violence, including the Dalai Lama whose written message was read aloud by Mr. Gere. But as S.F. Supervisor Chris Daly said, for an oppressive dictatorship to stage a political self-promotion on the streets of San Francisco and for the people of San Francisco to NOT fill those streets and vociferously protest that dictatorship would be, quite simply, un-San Franciscan. The Communist Chinese regime wanted their moment in the American spotlight. Tomorrow they will get it.
