rchapstick
Seriously' date=' if you can honestly say, without laughing, that you think the feds did a good job in response to Katrina, then you are either off your meds, delusional, or both.[/quote'] I have no reason to think that you have the desire or capability to actually learn anything real about the U.S. Federal Government's response to Katrina but anyone who does would do well to start here: Debunking the Myths of Hurricane Katrina: Special Report Nice link RY. Here's a direct quote from your link: "Despite the early-warning phone call from Mayfield, nobody seems to have been prepared for or aware of the real extent of the damage. This seemed especially true at the top, where the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported directly to officials at the White House, cutting his superior at the Department of Homeland Security out of the loop. A bipartisan Senate report, issued in April 2006, was not hopeful about upcoming hurricane seasons. "Hurrican Katrina: A Nation Still Unprepared" cites a myriad of problems at FEMA alone, including a lack of emergency management experience at top levels, years of crippling budget shortfalls and a deficit of experienced frontline personnel to assist in emergencies." Yessiree, that Brownie did one helluva job! And where, pray tell, did Brownie come from? Why, he was appointed by GWB due to his STELLAR performance as the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association. Yup, nothing says emergency preparedness like keeping tabs on some pony watchers! Seriously dude, you ought to read some of the stuff you link to, rather than just look at all the pretty pictures. Julian2
Pete Seeger - Americaâ??s Most Successful Communist Lets be honest Rog, when it comes to the politics of the left America's never quite got there. You're all brainwashed from birth that lack of money makes you a failure.
rogueyam
Lets be honest Rog, when it comes to the politics of the left America's never quite got there. You're all brainwashed from birth that lack of money makes you a failure. I agree that, generally speaking, Americans are culturally predisposed against leftism (which I, of course, consider to be a good thing) but I think it is for a different reason than that which you claim. First of all it is not brainwashing. Secondly it is not necessarily money that defines success but productivity and accomplishment. Americans admire those who create and produce, those who set goals for themselves and accomplish them. This is as it should be. Otherwise you get short-sighted, dying cultures like those of Western Europe. No thanks.
Julian2
Well America went to a lot of trouble and expense to prop up those shortsighted and dying Western European cultures. It must be hard being right wing in the States at the moment. Jobs heading overseas at a rate of knots because the notoriously idle American working man expects to be paid enough money to live on and send his children to school. Keep blaming it on what you call the "left". It's probably more comfortable than blaming those whose only responsibility is to their shareholders. rogueyam
Well America went to a lot of trouble and expense to prop up those shortsighted and dying Western European cultures. Yes, we are quite generous that way, but not infinitely so.
