Encore
I stoked up my laptop, connected via wifi, and have no problem, so it must be residing inside my desktop. I reset safari, still same problem. It only happenes with Youporn, no otehr site, and my memeory actually shows it must have briefly connected with Youporn, then redirected. I am stumped! Coss
You may have already tried this, in Safari menu/preferences/general/homepage is that set to where you'd expect it to be? Had this problem on an accountant's computer some years ago. You could also download the excellent free Onyx utility that can clean all the sytsem caches and lots of other things - from here. Coss
Or you could use Firefox. Often there'll be a script embedded in some component or other of a page and they can be buggers to get rid of. "suppose I'll just have to turn off my machine from time to time," do you leave your Mac on 24/7? Rebooting occasionally will flush all sorts of nonsense. Good Luck Coss
bust
I use Firefox on my MacBook and downloaded an add-on called Add-Block. Has solved so the pop-up issue for me which seems to be the source of many problems.
Encore
Coss> You may have already tried this, in Safari menu/preferences/general/ homepage is that set to where you'd expect it to be?< Thanks Coss. I went there and changed the homepage, will have to see if that works. Aso went to pref/advanced/change proxy settings, It shows in the box "Bypasss proxy settings for these hosts and domains: *.local, 169.254/16 I am not sure what that means, don't want to change it if it is related to my modem, it may suddenly stop my net connection. I'll try Onyx. Firefox has the same problem, as has Opera. I'll also try AddBlok on Firefox. Will report back what happens. Thanks all.
TheCorinthian
That is just odd. Oh and the add blocker I use is called PithHelmet. I love it!
Encore
Onyx tells me my disc needs repair: >To repair your startup-disk, start up from your Mac OS X Install disc, then choose Utilities > Disk Utility...< I bought my iMac eight months ago or so, just after OSx 5 came out. they gave me the discs for Tiger (OSx 4....), and then loaded Leopard (OS X 5) on the machine. So i don't have the 'install disc. looks like a trip to BKK coming up. Luckily, the machine's disc utility also show it needs a disc repair, otherwise it may have been a bit tricky to explain to the repairshop why i think it needs fixing..
