Flashermac
GIK is a borrowed (and sort of corrupted) word from English. It comes from "gig" - musicians' slang for a date to play, a one night stand or whatever. As explained, it's just a somewhat casual shagging friend. No long term plans involved. FAN is another such word - from sports fan, movie stars' fans etc. From admirer, it turned to become a "significant other" in Thai. A GIK, on the other hand, is an "insignificant other". drogon
Gik = a lover hidding (or not) in the closet... (I could have been a gik but I do not have the right mindset for that)
CTO
Word was added to Thai vocabulary about 5 years ago - from a term used in a soap opera.
