ozpharlap
Are there motorcycle that can be ridden over there without a drivers license (under a certain cc limit?) It is not the law, BIB or tea money quotas that should discourage unlicenced driving in the LOS - the main reason is that you will invalidate any health/travel insurance policy you may hold. If you are not driving with a valid licence the insurance company will not pay out. So, the little dingle you may have, and the 1,000's of dollars you compile from the hospital bed may, more than likely I should say, will come out of your own pocket. I am no expert on Thai law but if you were to ride one of those small cc bikes my understanding is that you must have a motor bike licence from your own country or from Thailand, a car licence will not suffice. rookie
Yet...and International Driving Permit [it's name is permit...not license] will suffice...providing it was obtained outside of Thailand. One cannot use an IDP in the country it was issued.
buddha
Actually 120-200 baht in small notes will get you out of just about any minor traffic infraction. Perhaps thats why the driving is so shitty...tea money is bargain.
cavanami
Depends on the person, the vehicle they are driving..that will determine the amount of teamoney required...YMMV
