elef
Hm, don't think so - thai economy is still strong and BOT will lock the baht to the USD in future also. In Europe many experts believe that the dollar will be strong 1-2 months more and after that down up to 25 % before end of year. BTW, saw a "secret" analysis by a oil market expert, he saw the oil price as the worst bubble since the IT-crash (in % more already) and he predicted the oil price to come down to 35-40 USD within one year - double is my guess. elef
Met the oil market expert again, he predicted a price 80-90 within a week (today 109). Gustav upheld a too high price he said. Winter season combined with recession in UK and USA and the oil price will remain 70-85 in winter, summer next year 25-30, he also said.

elef
For those over there: Sir Noël Coward was an actor, playwright and composer but much more, friend of EII's mother and 2nd daughter, Winston Churchill and a neighbour of Ian Fleming. He was gay and often stayed in Raffles and the Oriental. In tropical climes There are certain times Of day When all the citizens retire To take their clothes off and perspire. It's one of those rules That the greatest fools Obey, Because the sun is far too sultry And one must avoid its ultry Violet ray. The natives grieve When the white men leave Their huts. Because they're obviously, Definitely Nuts. Mad Dogs & Englishmen Go out in the midday sun. The Japanese don't care to, The Chinese wouldn't dare to, Hindus and Argentines Sleep firmly from twelve to one, But Englishmen Detest a Siesta. In the Philippines They have lovely screens To protect you from the glare. In the Malay states There are hats like plates Which the Britishers won't wear. At twelve noon The natives swoon, And no further work is done, But mad dogs and Englishmen Go out in the midday sun! Such a surprise For the eastern eyes To see, That though the English are effete, They're quite impervious to heat. When the white man rides Every native hides In glee. Because the simple creatures hope he Will impale his solar topee On a tree. It seems such a shame When the English claim The Earth, That they give rise To such hilarity And mirth. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, Hm, hm, hm, hm, hm, hm. Mad dogs and Englishmen Go out in the midday sun. The toughest Burmese bandit Can never understand it. In Rangoon The heat of noon Is just what the natives shun, They put their Scotch Or Rye down And lie down. In a jungle town Where the sun beats down To the rage of man and beast, The English garb Of the English sahib Merely gets a bit more creased. In Bangkok At twelve'o'clock They foam at the mouth and run, But mad dogs and Englishmen Go out in the midday sun. Mad dogs and Englishmen Go out in the midday sun. The smallest Malay rabbit Deplores this foolish habit. In Hong Kong They strike a gong And fire off a noonday gun To reprimand Each inmate Who's in late. In the Mangrove swamps Where the python romps There is peace from twelve to two, Even caribous Lie around and snooze, For there's nothing else to do. In Bengal, To move at all Is seldom if ever done. But mad dogs and Englishmen Go out in the midday Out in the midday Out in the midday Out in the midday Out in the midday Out in the midday Out in the midday sun! TheCorinthian
If you had placed US $30,000.00 under your mattress 20 years ago, you, today would have US $20,000.00! Go figure! What dumb ass math are you doing?
junglesoup
I reckon your reasoning inflation Unit? This is true. Money has 2 main functions... 1. Acts as a store of value 2. Acts as medium of exchange. Well if you had 30,000 USD under the matress 20 years ago, and you dug it out to spend it today, it would certainly buy you a much smaller basket of goods that 20 years ago. Oil, housing, food, consumables etc... Central banks especially Greenspans and Bernankes love to print money, and since the creation of the FED in 1913 the USD has lost 95% of its value. Credit and money inflation has been averaging 12-16% a year in the US for a long time, meaning that every 5-7 years the number of USD in circulation doubles meaning that the roughly the purchasing power has halfed...I think this is what Unit is referring to? " ehhh, Totally False. Last time, inflation was over 15% was World War II. Since the above 30,000 has been under the mattress, 10 years. Inflation rate the USA, has been lower than 5%.
