It has been confirmed that the Iranian Air Force has "forced" a US Falcon to land after a US jet violated Iran's airspace.

The Fars News agency of Iran has stated:

"Iranian fighter FNA dispatches said that the US Falcon jet had entered Iranian airspace from Turkey despite repeated warnings by the Islamic Republic Air Force. The US jet was flying at low altitude in a bid to remain unnoticed by Iranian Radars, but it was made to touch down at an Iranian air port escorted by Air Force fighter jets. The flying crew and passengers, including five US militaries and three civilians, were released after day long interrogations revealed that they had violated Iranian airspace unintentionally as they were en route to Afghanistan. The US Falcon and all those aboard left Iran for Afghanistan after receiving take off permission from Iranian authorities."

Iranian state television have issued a report that contradicts this statement by FARS saying that the plane was not American but the crew was American."

U.S. says business jet forced down in Iran

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The U.S. military coalition in Iraq confirmed Tuesday that a business jet -- not a U.S. military aircraft -- was recently forced down in Iran due to an airspace violation.

"The airplane is now being confirmed as a light transport plane with no Americans onboard," Multi-National Forces-Iraq said in a statement issued Tuesday. "From what we have been seeing, it was a Falcon business jet. We have accounted for all our aircraft and none are missing."

The U.S. coalition in Iraq had no information on who owned the aircraft, stressing that it was not a registered American plane.

Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency initially reported that five American military officials were on board the U.S. aircraft. But other Iranian media reports -- quoting Iranian officials -- said the aircraft was Hungarian and no Americans were on the plane.

Iranian officials told Iran's state-run Arabic language channel Al-Alam that the incident happened a week ago and that the plane was carrying humanitarian workers.

They also confused a multi-engine civilian 10 passenger aircraft with a USAF single engine fighter plane.

:p

We all know that a Falcon business jet, probably colored in shiny white, with luxury seats inside and a nicely dressed stewardess, can easily be confused with an US warplane by the Iranian fighter pilots and ground troops at the airport.
