With respect Julian that solution sounds kind of wimpy. They probably have WMD. You should send in Special Forces to take out the leaders. If that doesn't work you must invade' date=' seize the oilfields and build military bases.[/quote']

With what? :D

Good point Torneyboy. Never invade anyone unless your population out numbers the invadees by at least ten to one.

The golden rule of bullying and stealing is to never pick on anyone as big as you.

A strong moderate government... similar to the previous Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad regime in Malaysia' date=' is to be encouraged at every level. [/quote']

Certainly nothing is as likely to thwart jihad as encouraging moderation at every level! A bold but necessry call, J2. Bravo!

Once again derision for an opinion with out offering an alternative.

And don't tell me to read back through the hundreds of pages of drivel you've posted on this site for what you said on the subject last month.

I'll ignore RY on this subject since I *know* he's never even met a real' date=' live Muslim...[/quote']

Whenever someone hurls the charge of "racism" you go from being stupid to being deranged.

It really is your Achilles' Heel, this hang-up you have over race.

Exactly what does Muslim have to do with race?

BTW, an excellent description of yourself. I'm sure you did not mean to address that to me. But hey, mistakes happen.

Cheers,

SD

This is very much Australia's problem and they're best positioned to do something about it.

Unfortunately this means supporting the corrupt families that run the country at present.

What did Kissinger say about Suharto?

"He might be a son of a bitch, but he's OUR son of a bitch".

Interesting link on the history of your quote. Even more interesting location for it.

Through my life I got "close" to 3 Muslims.

- First was a Shi'a Muslim from Pakistani origin. Rich family but a very "radical" grandfather who was Imam.

The grandson was a very great guy who had to choose between being a good guy with a modern view of Islam or turning into a fanatic...He chose the less violent way.

A really fascinating personality and a great fellow.

- Second: Classical Muslim young lady (normal situation in Belgium) who fell in love with a Belgian while her family did not approve at all.

Almost ended up in blood but finally she found the courage to run away from her family (and her murderous traditional brothers)

- Third: A sad waste of a promising future.

A Muslim telecom engineer here who listened too much to the wrong Imam.

Young lad born and grew up in the US -> went to work 2 years in the UK and then Spain.

Excellent case of what becomes to people mixing real world and spiritual beliefs.

Went to Iran for a spiritual retreat or so he said.

Was a not too stupid lad but obviously he had a problem as he only saw the negative aspects of the western culture (and we have many) without finding anything positive...

We tried to explain him that Iran or quite a few Islamic countries were far from perfect but he never listened.

Religion is really a piece of shit when you start mixing it with real life

One of my best friends in Australia is a Shia from Pakistan.. Religious without being radical.. Doesn't drink but is happy to look at porn etc..

I felt bad for him during this uproar over the muslim school recently, though he probably understands as he hates the local Lebanese as much as everyone else.
