Flashermac
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story," has long been the mantra of filmmakers when crafting a biopic. And who could blame them? The average life is messy, has too many characters, and usually fails to have a Hollywood ending. So screenwriters massage the details -- dropping a first wife here, losing an unflattering habit there -- to make their character appealing enough for the ticket-paying masses. But it's a slippery slope -- a fudged fact can quickly slide into outright fiction. In honor of W. coming out this weekend, check out some of cinema's more factually-challenged biopics. Bangkoktraveler
I didn't think Star Wars was that accurate.
Flashermac
Some of the first words on the screen in Star Wars are "long ago and far away ..." or something to that effect. Trink reviewed the film and said it is set in the distant future.

Bangkoktraveler
I personally thought Gomer Pyle was 100% straight on. I don't think they could have done a better job.
unit731
I personally thought Gomer Pyle was 100% straight on. I don't think they could have done a better job. And exactly, what is the implication of such words?
JayT
Plan to see "W" asap. Has got to be worth a few hearty laughs. I saw "Religulous" recently, which had the whole place busting up with laughter.
