The rupiah has gained 10% over since mid summer and that makes the hottie Javanese babes here that much cheaper Dont get me wrong - I enjoy Jakarta more than Bali, and I really like Bandung, but the last place I want to be when the fiscal shit hits the fan is Java. There is a segment of the local population that craves anarchy, pure and simple, and the stories of rape (majority local Muslim women when their 'targets' were supposedly Chinese) and pillage that took place during the Jakarta riots in the 90's read like 17th century pirates on a rampage. Spend some time in Johor, Penang or Singapore and ask the locals their opinion of working-class Indonesians. But it seriously seems I will not spend much time in Bangkok this winter.
