drogon
I am thinking about sending a device to my girlfriend. I wonder if it is considered importation by the Thai customs and what it would imply? Thanks
The_Munchmaster
What kind of device? A cylindrical battery operated device by any chance? If so I know what that would imply! :smirk:
drogon
No, she is too shy to use *this* kind of device without my help In fact this is a bed heating device. I wondered if: . Thai customs will check a postal package . If they check is it then considered as importation . If so, what do we have to pay or whatever? (weight about 4-5 kg)

SiLeakHunt
That sounds like an excuse for the maids explaining that Somchai the motorbike was in your flat overnight while you are away working at the abottoir in Doncaster. "But Tilac our bed is cold when you are not there, he is my cousin and makes it warm for me."
radioman
Depends. When you send it you will have to declare it and either you or the despatch service will assign it an HS code If Thai import agrees then the addressee will be required to pay the duty+VAT+fees on collection. The alternative is to send it DDP, Delivered Duty Paid.
carlton68
Yeah, it's cold in LOS. I don't know if it applies here. It's kind of a blanket, right? Unpack the damned thing, sleep on it for a night, repack it (not folded like original) into a simple plastic bag and put this into the parcel. Then declare it as 'used' (with a small value if you need to give one). There should not be any tax on used goods in small amounts and of little value.
