And if you didn't think he was wacky before...

Obviously a firm believer in one rule of law for the rich but another completely different one for the poor, Mr Thaksin demonstrates an unbelievable lack of understanding of the concept of irony.

Fugitive Thaksin : Protesters seizing airports must respect law.

Fugitive ex-Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has called for anti-government protesters who seized Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports to respect the laws or face legal action.

He warned that if they did not respect the law, "law enforcement must be done."

Thaksin has been on the run after being sentenced in absentia to two years in jail on corruption charges in Thailand.

He was referring to seizing of the airports by protesters led by People's Alliance for Democracy, which reached the fifth day on Saturday.

Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, who is Thaksin's brother in law, has issued state of emergency both airports. The move was seen as a tool to allow police to disperse them.

"The airports must be reopened and the protesters must respect not only the law, but the citizens of Thailand," thaksin said. "If no one respects the law, then law enforcement must be done."

He also warned that should the military launch a coup, it would be much more bloody than the previously occasions. He also warned the army to stay out of politics, predicting bloodshed if they stage a coup.

"If the coup were to happen, there's going to be bloodshed. It's not going to be an easy coup like in the past because the people are in hardship since dictatorship came to Thailand," thaksin said.

Thaksin urged his supporters to "protect democracy": "If you protect Democracy you may be painful for a while, but if you allow dictatorship to take over Thailand you are going to have a nightmare for your whole life."

Thaksin said without elaboration, "so-called independent agencies or courts had been mobilised to bias against the government. That's very bad.

Thaksin's message to the military: "They are officials whose salary is paid by taxpayer money, so they have to do what is wanted by the whole of the Thai people, not just for minority groups. They must respect Democracy. They must play by the rules. Being neutral means you have to observe the law."

Thaksin was speaking to Thomas Crampton, a freelance blogger in a videotaped interview. Crampton said the interview came out whenhe had coffee with Thaksin. "He spoke passionately about this week's events in Thailand," he wrote.

The date and time of the interview was not known. It was posted on Crampton's blog on Friday.

Another nutter (Bangkok Post):

People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leader Sondhi Limthongkul on Saturday reiterated that he was ready to 'fight to the death' and strike back, should the police attempt to seize the anti-government ASTV satellite television.

Following Metropolitan Police chief Suchart Muankaew's announcement to take hold of ASTV, Mr Sondhi said the PAD was ready to defend the station and would die to protect the country.

He urged his supporters to do their best to secure Government House and Suvarnabhumi airport. [color:red]The PAD's anti-government movements were under the constitution, he reaffirmed.[/color]

Mr Sondhi claimed that deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was giving orders to the Thai government in Hong Kong.

If the police fire at the PAD guards at ASTV, the guards will shoot back, he warned.

Meanwhile back at not The Nation - dam I love this web site but it is a bit scary - I think PAD does think like this.

PAD Vows to Kill PAD Members to Boost PAD Turnout

Volunteers eager to help out with new recruitment tactic

BANGKOK â?? Following their seventh â??Final Battleâ? which again failed to bring down the government or start a general groundswell of urban revolution, the Peopleâ??s Alliance For Democracy announced a new tactic of randomly assassinating their own members to â??create a renewed sense of urgency,â? according to spokesperson and leader Chamlong Srimuang.

â??Our best rallies and press coverage have come after bloodshed,â? Chamlong noted, citing the police crackdown on October 7, which left two PAD protestors dead, as the highlight of the current campaign to unseat the PPP-led government. â??The Nation gave us a special â??Black Octoberâ?? special edition, and the TV news ran for almost 12 hours straight. We came very close to forcing a coup.â?Â

Unfortunately for the PAD, cooler heads prevailed and the police retreated before more PAD members were killed. Additionally the strategy of police restraint has been practiced thoroughly ever since, providing the PAD no additional incidents for outrage until a very lucky break last week, when an unknown assailant launched a grenade towards a PAD tent in the middle of the night, killing one PAD member. The same thing happened several days later, leading to what Chamlong calls â??a great week for us.â?Â

The PAD was however unable to translate the renewed outrage into sufficient numbers to overthrow the government in Mondayâ??s â??Final Battle.â? With only a turnout of about 20,000 total, including a mere 11,000 at the storming of the Parliament building, the PAD was forced to up the ante by finding new and creative ways to break the law.

â??We cut power cables, we hijacked buses, we assaulted policemen in broad daylight,â? lamented Sondhi Limonthonghkul, a PAD leader. â??We vandalized property, impeded traffic, caused a public nuisance, and even closed down schools. It is absolutely disgusting that the police refuse to shoot us. Since they wonâ??t do it, we will.â?Â

Although the PAD has refused to disclose exact details, it has been informally announced that starting next week PAD guards will be randomly cutting the throats of one or more PAD supporter while they sleep, and possibly stringing up the body on a lamppost with anti-monarchy insults written on it, and a note taped to the corpse signed by Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, and the nation of Cambodia. The Nation newspaper is believed to have been granted special access to photograph the corpse first.

Response to the PADâ??s plan to kill its own members has been generally well-received by PAD members. â??I have said from the beginning that I am willing to die to save this country,â? said Nanthavorn Krisdawithee, a 67-year old PAD protestor from Hat Yai. â??If getting killed by my own friends can help make it happen, then Iâ??m happy to do my part.â?Â

â??If I die by the PADâ??s hands, it will be Thaksinâ??s fault,â? she added.

...

all sondhi is ready for is letting women, children and senior citizens die in his holy war...

i'm sure the govt could end the standoff by promising sondhi a concession stand at the airport and chamlong a new robe...
