Well, justice delayed in a way, although it would be nice for him to serve time for the murders.

His actions since he litterally got a 'get out of jail free' card has been one of arrogance. He was arrogant and stupid. Serves him right...er..or more accurately.

I wonder if its 15 years time he has to do but 15 with parole after a certain number of years?

I would also assume he'd be in protective custody and away from the general population. Customarily that means 23 hours alone in your cell and an hour a day of excercise in open air.

Thought I heard an analysis on TV that said it could be as low as 9 years.

Whatever...I actually felt sorry for the guy while I watched the proceedings. His murderous past notwithstanding, the penalty seemed kind of harsh.

I recall reading that while he was incarcerated shortly after killing his wife and her friend (allegedly) that members at Riviera started posting really low scores for him in the computer, effectively taking him from something like a 13 handicap to scratch. :)

I just watched his plea before the judge.

Even with the knowledge of the murders and that he has a charming, manipulative personality, I was really impressed.

I found myself almost thinking, "oh, come on judge give the guy a break".

For anyone who hasn't seen it, he portrays himself as this caring, loving, good person. He was just trying to get things back that were stolen from him - all selfless as well - retrieving a picture of his son with US President Gerald Ford (when his son was 5 years old)...

He portrayed the guy whom he confronted as evil (the guy tried to secretly film OJ in a porn movie)...

He implied the police were to blame, "I asked them what I could do about these items that had been stolen from me...".

It wasn't his idea that the guys who accompanied him were there, "they asked me if they could come...".

Poor, OJ, just a sweet caring guy, trying to do the right thing....

But, while he doesn't really understand what he did wrong (all a disagreement amongst friends), apparently he did, so he is "sorry, sorry".

Very impressive performance!!

Even if he only has to do 6 years, I imagine its over for him psychologically. He has been able to manipulate and live the good life for his entire life - now, for perhaps the first time, he hasn't succeeded. And, for the first time, instead for being at the top of the heap, he will be at the bottom - confined to a jail cell, no days golfing at exclusive clubs, no beautiful women to be with, no one he can con.

Glad I am not OJ!!!

With overcrowding in jails and the system in general as well as knowing folks that have been in jail, what you are sentenced is rarel what you serve. Murder with special circumstances, and stuff like that, for sure, but robbery, drugs, etc. non violent crime you are elgible for parole much earlier.

15 years seems a bit harsh for a '1st offense', given his age as well. From what I've seen, most judges would let a person at his age, no priors, etc. off with minimum jail time (18 months - 2 years, parole after a year), sometimes probation and community service only. Especially given the circumstances that he was trying to get what he believed was his property, no one was hurt as well. I'm OJ's least favorite fan but the sentencing does seem to be out of whack with what I would assume someone would get.

He should get 15 for being stupid enough to try something like that given his notoriety. :smirk:
