dean
It seems that other airlines are jumping on the Hong Kong route, Northwest airlines being the latest. Through March, you can find the above fare, flying from New York. If you can combine this fare with the Air Asia promotion, that might get you a cheap fare to BKK. I'm hoping that NWA will extend this promotion to BKK but I'm not holding my breath.
dean
I just got an email from China airlines that they are offering a fare from LAX to Bangkok through April for $800 which includes every fee and surcharge. The fare is available Tues.-Thurs.
Hugh_Hoy
That is a super deal compared to EVA. How EVA continues to get away with their over-priced flights is beyond my comprehension. I've used EVA for years, but switched to Cathay Pacific this last trip. HH

I've used EVA for years, but switched to Cathay Pacific this last trip. HH That's funny, I've gone the other way. Up until last year, I only took Cathay Pacific to BKK; then earlier this year, their prices went sky high (no pun intended), so I switched to EVA. I like EVA, but much prefer the lounges that Cathay has.
rchapstick
No FF miles on CX at those fares with OneWorld. With status, I get double miles so I'd be forfeiting 32000 ff miles, which t $0.02 per mile is worth over $600. As much as I hate UA, I still get full ff miles on any fare. So I just take an Ambien and ignore the old trolley dollies
shygye
FF miles is a big Ponzi scheme that dwarfs the Madoff scam.
rchapstick
Not sure how you came to that conclusion ... It takes a bit of research and diligence, but I have never had a problem redeeming miles.
matta330
I did manage to use all of my AA miles that I got by flying Cathay - and yes I might not have always gotten the exact date that I want, but in the end I was always able to use my miles as well. Show me in the T & C where the airline guarantees a minimum number of seats in F, C, and Y are available for awards.
