USA Getting Socialized Medicine?

We need to do something here...people can't afford medical insurance' date=' companies can't afford to give it as a benifit, so what is the answer?

The days of saying "...they have it in XYZ country and it sucks..." don't cut it anymore. I work with guys who are getting laid off, and are facing having to pay $1200++ a month to insure their families. This is in addition to deductibles and copayments. Something has to change, people just cannot afford it.[/quote']

This is the point.

The US pays more for health care than any other country.

But no one wants to pay for that homeless smuck. And when that homeless smuck does get health care it is the emergency room at the highest cost and the others and taxpayers pay his/her bill.

I get free health care - thanks to Ho Chi Minh. So I don't have a dog in this fight.

But the system in place now in the USA is broken.

With universal health care there is preventative medicine. Much cheaper than waiting for extensive treatments in the emergency rooms.

Move to Canada is a little lame now and I agree with Mr. Hippie.

Let's say the homeless person is charged $1000.00 for emergency room service. If I go to the hospital with insurance, I am charged $50.00 and my insurance has the $950.00 bill reduced to something like $220.00 dollars. If the homeless person was given a card that said he gets medical care at insurance rates, the county would save $730.00 ($1000-$220.00-$50.00).

When Jesus was executed' date=' which side would you be on[/quote']

He would probably be whining because the taxpayers had to pay for the cross. :neener:

If rogie was living then, he probably would have donated the cross. :neener:

Iff rogie was living then, he would have asked Maria to pay for the cross.

I stand corrected. rogie would have forced Maria to pay for the cross instead of going to debtor's prison.

The whole health care problem in America is a result of the masses not taking care of themselves healthwise. Americas rather run their fat mouths with their pathetic friends over a Starbucks coffee than getting a good 30 minute workout for the day.

America's diet is shit and healthcare professionals are a bunch of greedy idiots.

Americas deserve everything they get. I laugh when I hear stories about families not being able to afford healthcare. Maybe the families should have invested in learning how to be healthy verses buying that SUV and big plasma TV.

I was a yoga teacher and I tried to help many people get their health on track. They were always too busy meeting up with their clicky friends.

Karma is a bitch!

P.S. I had a mega backache this. One hour of yoga, and goodbye backache. Yes, I endured a bit of pain during the yoga session, but I am smiling hear to hear now!

That's bullshit. While obesity is of course a part of the problem which is producing huge costs, diseases like cancer can't be healed with sports or Yoga. Also these kind of illnesses are extremely expensive to cure.

I didn't realize yoga could cure everything. But then you allude that sickness is a result of karma, so what did you do 'wrong' to be paid back with a backache?

Karma is simply the law of cause and effect. I got the backache from slouching in my chair too much the other day. I do that when I jerk off to pornos. LOL.

Yoga is the shit, but it will not cure everything. Sometimes you need herbs, surgery, etc. I am just pissed off at how lazy Americans are. And how there is this consciousness of inevitable illness in our country.

Cancer is a disease of the opulent. That is why there is so much cancer in America. America has pisses away all its wealth for dumb shit while letting its infrastructure, profession/business oversight rot.

Someday I will die--just like everything else that is born. But, at a ripe 40 I am in the best shape of my life given I have taken the time to take responsibility for my own wellness. You never lose when you invest in yourself.

You never reward bad behavior with the rod--not a lollypop.

It's still BS what you write, my father worked hard (6-7 days a week) ate healthy, (not completely volontary :) ) since my mother was on an organic food trip before this term existed. He died on cancer. My mother worked hard as well (6-7 days a week) at healthy, is lean and still extremely active with 70 (garden work e.g.) and just had a cancer op and a chemotherapy. My nephew has autism and needs a lot of support (special teacher e.g.).

Luckily I live in Germany, with a kind of socialized health care. Actually in Germany you can choose between private health care (single room in hospital, head physician care e.g.) and a kind of public/private health care which still covers all important health issues (cancer therapy, e.g.), but won't cover additional care like dental implants e.g. If you are unemployed the government will pay for the basic health care, which is IMHO especially important for families with kids.

But of course the Americans live an extremely unhealthy way of life with obviously the most obese people world wide. There are even statistics saying the the current younger generation will be the first generation which will have lower life expectancy than their parents and grand parents.

Also, it seems to be clear that even if, or maybe because, the US health care is a kind of free market health care it is much worse and more expensive than the 'socialist' health care in most other industrialized countries.
