Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wins vote to allow re-election.

VENEZUELA'S President Hugo Chavez has won a referendum vote that lets him stay in power for as long as he keeps beating rivals in elections, and bolsters support for his socialist and anti-U.S. policies.

Mr Chavez has already been in power for 10 years and the referendum vote helps clear the way for him to fulfil his declared goal of ruling for decades, although the global economic crisis will limit his ability to spend oil cash on nationalising industries and extending his influence overseas.

Electoral authorities said 54 percent of voters approved a constitutional amendment to remove limits on re-election and allow Mr Chavez to stay in office until he is defeated at the ballot box. His current term ends in 2013.

When asked their opinion about "el presidente", the 5 Venezuelianas in my company swear they will never go back working in Venezuela because of this rotten ass***....

Seems all middle class/educated people from Venezuela do their best to flee the country, says a lot about this guy.

Read, some time ago, an article in the BBC about the loss of qualified Venezuelians....

The Venezuelian community here is one of the smallest among the South American population but the big difference is:

Peru, Ecuador etc...seems all the farmers/workers emigrated to Spain in hope to get better salaries, while in the case of Venezuela "the elites left"...

Everytime I meet someone form Venezuela, they are usually journalists, IT people, PR people etc...

When I ask to the ladies working in the company why they left their country, the answer is always:

. Mainly because of insecurity

...Their main problem with el presidente is not wether he is right or left wing but that he is doing nothing to solve his country's problems...

If I was in the same situation as these ladies, being a good programer but having to live in constant insecurity, with a salary of 200-300 euros/month -> then I would surely emigrate.

By the way, the chicks from Venezuela are the hottest South American women (add Chili and Argentina)...The country is a very big mix of nationalities and they are really beautiful (if compared to the ugly, fat and stupid chicks from other South American countries I see here)

The staff from Venezuela here:

- One guy looks like a Slav, his family name is Polish

- One team leader looks like a Nordic guy, his family name is German

- One lady: Looks like a very hot mix between a Brazilian and a Caucasian, has an Italian family name

- One lady looks like any Northern European, she has a German family name

- One looks like a beautiful Spanish, has a Basque name

- One looks like a mix between middle eastern - Caucasian, has a Jewish family name

Really an incredible country (and they love their country), very sad the president is there....

(I also learned that Venezuela was the first country in numbers of "beauty queens schools"....not hard to understand since I never met one single ugly Venezuelian chick)

Great

The Venezuelanas chicks are in tears this morning....

Read in "le monde" (French newspaper) this morning as few statistics about Venezuela...

130 homicides for 100K inhabitants per year

(23 for Bogota)

In 2008: 14700 people have been murdered in the ocuntry.

More than 100K people killed since chavez is "el presidente"...-> following the official statistics

(which don't include domestic violence deaths or deats for "resisting the authority")

And so on....very sad to see these women crying because their country is such a mess.

Hope it will never happen to Thailand
