CTO
Naive young friend went to Chinese Embassy for a tourist visa and was swamped by touts offering to do the whole process for her. Credit to the Embassy - she did stoopidly hand over her passport and paid the tout to process - but then had a panic attack and I told her to take her slip to the Embassy Visa Counter - sure enough at least the Passport was there and they handed to her. She paid far too much off course
samak
the chinese embassy sucks! i recently got through the whole procedure with invitation letter, confirmation from the ministery of commerce in china and finally got only a half year multiple entry instead of a full year! no reason given! ..
It is always a madhouse, that's for sure. As far as visas, the 6-month multi is all they are giving out nowadays. But better than the run-up to the Olympics with the bloody 1- and 2-entry visas ! Cheers, SD
samak
in Hongkong you get a 12 month without even a invitation letter! next year we could see the same mess again with only 1-2 entry visas as there is the World Expo in Shanghai from May to October 2010! the visa policy during Olympics was a shoot in the back as most hotels in Bejing i talked with recently were not full at all during Olympics
