Coss
The Devil's Own (1997) Nice movie from when they had movies in the movies. Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt playing the good cop and bad terrorist, respectively. Brad before he was a super star, Harrison, less so. Set in America and referencing the Irish troubles. I liked it. paul101
Cuties the very controversial film contrasting a fluffy image of Islam with the depraved corrupting influence of western values, as seen by it's female Muslim creator. Lot of hysteria about the 'sexy' dance scenes and the use of such young girls, not a lot different to what you might see in Africa, and the intention was to condemn such goings on. Pitchforks are out for Netflix, the female Muslim director seems to be forgotten in all the outrage. In real life an 11 year old from Senegal would have been subjected to female genital mutilation and be forced the wear the Hijab and not much later an arranged marriage, no outrage about reality though. Too crudely done, the director deserves the criticism.
Coss
On 2/4/2020 at 4:25 AM, Palatkik said: Knives Out [2019] An old fashioned Agatha Christie style murder whodunit might seem a little jaded in this day and age, but a strong cast just about carries this tale of a rich 85 year old father mysteriously dying and leaving his dysfunctional family fighting over the inheritance. Much better than I thought it was going to be, no spoilers, good ending I liked it

paul101
Tenet, well it was that or Mulan. Amazing how they can put garbage like this together, too long, far, far too complex, too much music, even playing over dialogue that is mummbled a lot and no great acting. I would have left after 30 mins if not with somebody, 4 other people in the cinema. Absolute rubbish, maybe kids would like it?
Palatkik
Tell it To The Bees [2018] Early 50's period drama of forbidden love between an abused housewife and her lesbian doctor friend, whilst her kid talks to the bees kept in the back garden. Starts off well but descends into a schmaltzy melodramatic farce.
Palatkik
Tesla [2020] A stylish historical drama of the late 19th century electrical AC power developer Nikola Tesla and his interactions with Thomas Edison and the daughter of the financier JP Morgan. Some original screenplay and an intense lead makes up for otherwise dull story telling.
paul101
Could not bear to watch much of Tesla, the most over hyped man in the history of science. There is a cult about him whose members repeat exaggerations and lies about him. Almost all the things they say he invented he did not, his famous 3 phase a/c motor was invented by an Italian 2 years before and his Tesla coil was just an improvement of Hertz's work, proven by the patent office giving Marconi the right to use an adapted version of the same invention. All the stories about Tesla being cheated and stopped doing work are nonsense. His ultimate failure was his mad idea of wire free electricity, it did not work and he never really did anything else. He never said he wanted to distribute 'free' electricity and that 'they' stopped him, just another myth. He was afraid of woman and never had anything to do with them. Palatkik
The Devil All The Time [2020] A Netflix offering worth a look presents a top cast in a routine style dark drama set in a 50's backwater American religious belt, where several unrelated dodgy characters get tied up in sexual and killing frenzies whilst a young lad grows up trying to protect those hes close to.
