spirit_of_town_hall
I will shortly be living in Thailand for at least 6 months of the year. I will be more than likely renting a condo in Pattaya or Jomtien. I will be living on a tourist visa, having to do a visa run every 3 months. Can I register a bike in my name, I can store the bike at a friends house when I am back in the UK during the summer months, thats no problem. What do I do for registration. Many thanks, STH

cavanami
You can not register a car or a bike with a tourist visa; must have a retirement visa (O), at least.
spirit_of_town_hall
No I will store it at Carew's house. Just put a cover over it and take it for a service whenever I return to Thailand. Cavanami, how do people get by, how can I own it securely whilst on a tourist visa? I am a longway away from 50 so cant be a retiree. STH
TroyinEwa/Perv
Pretty sure you're gonna have to show some sort of a long term visa. Without that, you can't get a license and and without a license, I'm not sure if you could register it. Cav would know, he owns a big bike himself. The_Munchmaster
A mate of mine has 2 Triumphs in LOS but he doesn't live there permanently. I'll try and find out what he does. I suspect the bikes are in his girlfriends name. He's definitely got a license though.
TroyinEwa/Perv
If he has a Thai license, then he should have had to show a work permit or extended visa to get it, if I'm not mistaken. Retirement or marriage type visa. Don't think you can get one without it. I looked into it awhile back and couldn't because of it.
simie
I am fairly sure you will need a Non Imm visa to get a licence and register a bike in your name. (A multiple entry Non Imm O one would be best for you) If you don't meet the criteria I think you can forget about getting one at the Thai embassy. You could try getting one from the consulate at Hull as they are rather more liberal in their interpretation of the rules. If that fails the you would have to register the bike in the name of someone you can trust who has a suitable visa etc. And then just drive it on an international licence. Simie.
