Guest
Excuse me Gentlemen, for this not very original question, but since i get old (the Foodsection of the messageboard is already my favorite) and on my former trips i was always on a thaifooddiet, i now feel the deep need to eat from time to time a well hung piece of beef. So where in BKK would you go for it ? Your very greatfull mupfel (In LOS)
Guest
"...a well hung piece of beef." There's a Super Big Men agency in the escort section of the "Bangkok Post." Sorry. Couldn't resist it. Neil's Tavern is good. The steak at the Hard Rock Cafe is not bad. Sizzler is good in a punch, but certainly not in the same ballpark as Neil's. Sarisin
hahaha Loved the comment on Super Big Men! I agree that Neil's is the best. Also good are the steak in the JW Marriott and the Madison restaurant in The Regent. I also posted recently about The Carlton on Silom Rd. not far from the 'pong. I had what they call Kobe Beef (but really is more like filet mignon) for 290 baht and it was superb. Also, you can get a good, inexpensive steak at Hunter's Pub on Sukhumvit Soi 4 down from NEP on the right aways.

Neon Ninja
Whatever you do, don't order the "Kobe Steak" from the restaurant in the Nana Hotel ! I've seen pictures of Kobe steaks and how they're supposed to taste. Whatever it was the Nana was serving does not even deserve the title of "steak", much less Kobe steak ! Tasted like burned shoe leather... -=/NN
Old Hippie
Someone told me the Landmark did a decent job with steak. I haven't been yet, but I will give it a whirl! I did have a steak at the JW marriot a few years back, it was quite good. I think the menu said it was from New Zealand or someplace. They also did a good job with a lamb dish there! I ate a lot of western food that trip. I also think Bei Otto has a few steak dishes, including Fillet Mignon of sorts on their buffet on Sundays. Guest
Hi, so after doing some fieldresearch, my top 3 ( no specific order) are: Sizzlers: i like the saladbar a lot (best i came across in LOS) , the drinks are cheap and the combination meals are good value for your money. And a good places for peoplewatching. Hunters Pub: The T-Bone is a great deal, the staff is very friendly, the drinks are cheap too. Fridays (at Ploechit centre): good and friendly service, big dishes and happy hour from 2 to 6 pm. Unfortunaly i didnt make it to Neils. Perhaps next time. mupfel ( now in SFZ :-( )
