Mentors
Two soldiers of Pattani Task Force 24 were injured in an explosion at at a market in Khok Pho district on Monday morning after GT200 detector was used to scan the area but the device detected no explosive. It was the latest proof of the GT200's ineffectiveness. A bomb went off after being remotely activated at the fresh market of Khok Pho district after soldiers used the GT200 to scour the area and left. The blast injured two soldiers of Pattani Task Force 24, who stayed on security duty at the market. When asked to comment on the incident, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said he did not think it was an act of defiance on the part of soldiers against the Science and Technology Ministry's finding that it is not effective. He said the soldiers were only familiar with using it and had confidence in it, and declined to comment when asked if Fourth Army Region commander Lt-Gen Pichet Wisaijorn should be held responsible for this. "We have to explain to them that the dector's effectiveness has not been scientifically proved," Mr Abhisit said. The prime minister said the Science and Technology Ministry would propose a line of practice regarding this matter at tomorrow's meeting of the cabinet. The incident prompted Puea Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit to come out and call for the prime minister to order all units to stop using the GT200 immediately. "Will army chief Anupong Paojinda resign to show responsibility over what happened? Will PM Abhisit dare to set up a committee to investigate irregularities surrounding the purchases of the detector ? If Mr Abhisit does not do not this but continue to allow soldiers and police to risk losing their lives, he should resign," he said. Mr Prompong said the Puea Thai Party would on Tuesday submit a petition with the National Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the purchases of the GT200 to see if corruption was involved. http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/169286/bomb-explodes-after-use-of-gt200

Coss
It's a pity the GT200 is not wrong 100% of the time, the soldiers could then be trained to react to a "no bomb" reading as, there being a bomb, and a "yes bomb" reading, as there being no bomb. Given the state of Thai logic, the soldiers should adapt to the new circumstances like ducks to water. Cheers Coss
