The guy admitted stealing weapons from the army, firing an assault rifle at soldiers, distributing illegal arms, and taking part in conspiracy in a terrorist act (bomb attacks at Silom). What does it take in Thailand to actually be charged?

UDD leaders shrug off Methi's words

Leaders of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) have shrugged off actor Methi Amornwuthikul's statement to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) that they ordered supporters to shoot at soldiers on April 10.

Veera Musikhapong, the UDD chairman, said: "Never mind. I have nothing to do with him. He (Methi) can say whatever he wants to."

[color:red]Jaran Ditha-apichai, a core member of the UDD and former member of the National Human Rights Commission, said whatever Mr Methi told the DSI would not make any difference, because people throughout the country already believed that the government that ordered the soldiers to kill the people.[/color] :content:

"UDD core members are not worried. This is a matter for a legal battle," Mr Jaran said.

Weng Tojirakarn, another UDD leader, said Mr Methi no longer had anything to do with the UDD.

He said Mr Methi acted alone, he had lately distanced himself from the UDD and even attacked it.

"Methi is not of political significance," he added.

Mr Weng said the UDD denied what Mr Methi had told the DSI, be it the shooting at army soldiers or the daily situation meeting. He said Mr Methi never attended such a meeting.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdit's announced today that Mr Methi had confessed in the course of interrogation that war weapons were fired at soldiers from the protesters side on the orders of the UDD leadership on April 10.

He said weapons were taken from the soldiers and distributed amongst the crowd.

We never saw him before in all our life. :liar:
