FINALLY They Admit It!

I don't know if it's the policy but it has happened in the past. The last one I remember was that police colonel that asked to be transferred back to the Bangkok area prior to his retirement. Apparently he didn't pay the required 'fee' and then got killed. He was well-respected and did a great job down South.

Also the soldier who bought in during the Don Muang clash.

As for this guy, considering everything was all set for his discharge other than the final signature from His Majesty, who knows???

I would think number 106 has a typo, as up to this time I have always seen She Daeng's rank as a Major General. I doubt that they gave him a posthumous promotion.

Do not know if this is exactly the reason, but I think so.

Rank, is a pecking order, Generals many times, fill a job vacancy (billet), that specifies a rank and realign in the pecking order.

Seh Deang filled a billet as a gym teacher, or something. His billet may have required up to a certain rank (2*). That must be less than his boss (maybe the base commander), must be higher rank (3*), his billet.

BUT, when he is retired or dead, he goes back to his highest rank.

[color:red]Or, although, he was (2*) and never promoted, he may in fact at one time filled a BILLET, of a (3*) temperarily waiting to be officially promoted, but never was. Maybe Thailand has a restriction, only 10 (or 20) 3* at any moment in time.

I expect something like that.

On topic: Well what a surprise (the news) but as sporty rightly pointed -> it could have huge consequences

Of topic:

I don't follow you...Khattiya Sawasdipol as a Major General was a one *.

Here he is listed as Lieutenant General which is 2*

No matter how you put it he could never be 3* (General)

There could be a logical explanation for him to be a 2* but except the posthumous promotion (which is an impossibility IMO) I don't see any...

All he could have done while alive would have been 'acting 2*' -> which means in a position where he, of course, remains a 1*, but is at a post where a 2* is required...

I could be wrong but it seems to me you are confusing the way function and rank could work.

The part about never being promoted or having a ticket for the next batch of promotion makes sense but still -> until he receives his promotion he won't be promoted.

I think we can forget about on the field promotion (after all he was on the wrong side) and posthumous promotion looks ridiculous to me.

(and this would certainly have had a line in the BKK ^post)

5 levels of general in the US

* Brigadier

** Major

*** Lieutenant

**** General

***** (WAR TIME ONLY)

Normal military, the BILLET, is where you sleep.

General Officer, the BILLET, is where you sleep,

and where you sleep, depends on the job you hold.

EXAMPLE

I am *** at Langley outside Washington, DC got the stars from being one great Special Ops guy. Just 49 years old and bored to death. 4 hours, of paper pushing a day, 4 in the gym.

We go to war with Belize, great place, good pussy, I want to go do something more useful and have some fun.

Need 4 Special Ops teams, but the OIC(rank) BILLET (job) requires only one *. The Theater commander (paper pusher) is a two **, he got the job. So, I want the BILLET of a *(take the job and sleep) in Belize, I talk to the big guy, **** tell him, I want the job, going nuts otherwise, he says, go ahead, take it.

When I arrive in Belize, I take off ** stars, put them in my pocket, Because at this time, I am working my specialty, for a ** Head Quarters officer that is in charge of this theater.

He knows, I have ** in my pocket, I am not challenging his command, will for sure have that conversation. I do not want to push the paper there, I want to play with grenades, in my expertise. My guys, and anyone else that cares, know I have ** in my pocket. IN THIS JOB, however, I fill a * billet (job). We win the war and I go back the the USA, on the plane, I take the ** out of my pocket, and return to ***(Lt).

I get back to Langley, thank the the big guy ****, for allowing me to go camping, with the girls in Belize.

Now back in my old job. While I was gone, with permission of the **** my second officer a **, filled my Billet (job), in command, of 3 other **, for the time I was gone, he gets to wear ***, but was not oficially promoted, by the President of the USA. EVERY ONE KNOWS, and RESPECTS, decisions made. He got the added responsiblity, for a time.

We both retire, ***(Lt), even though he was never confirmed, by the President of the USA. Now, there was a lot of paper pushed around to do this, but he only, filled my position, on a temp bases. At any moment in time, there can only be 10 ***, Special Ops, in the world.

Neither is promoted, again. We both retire, ***(Lt), even though he was never confirmed, by the President of the USA. WITH LOTS OF PAPER WORK, he only filled the job as a temp.

or

More simple, I was sick, and the big guy, ****, had my XO **, fill in for me, as a temp ***, over other **, [color:red]lots of paper work, but never offically promoted by the President.

So they can't turn off water but they can turn off bank accounts, actually a interesting way to do this, doesn't affect the protesters personally, just rich folk. Interesting way forward. I wonder though if they've thought it through, good PR value - but I'd hate to piss off many on that list.

SC Park I thought had the "cough cough" group investing in it as well . . . . .

Might be a good way to do things -> hit the real leaders where it can hurt them the most aka their money

but then it could turn really bad as they for sure won't let that happen so easily and will fight back

same same Mr T...

By the way, the missus went today to Q house Lumpini as well as many of her colleagues -> to retrieve documents and so on...from what she told me it seems more than a few buildings in the area suffered some damages.

Of course the worst damages are for the employees of all the shops there

Isn't there some strange policy here whereby if you are a serving policeman or soldier and you die then you get promoted a number of ranks posthumously? My understanding is that it increases the pension payments made to family, amongst who knows what other benefits.

Mabye this explains his behavior. It was all part of the plan: he did it for his family. ;)

Just a thought, isn't there a big sea aquarium in Siam Square? If they shut off the power and water, wouldn't all those expensive fish die? In fact, I wonder if they're being taken care of currently -- or perhaps eaten by the redshirts -- can't resist getting the last cheap joke in at their expense.

Maybe they can pull an Avatar type move, all the fish rise up against the redshirts and drive them out of Siam Square.
