Reading through the comments on the link, this was my favorite:

Right, sending in the Seals to take out the tuk-tuks would do Thailand/Phuket a favor.

 

2,000 Baht for a distance of likely not more than a few kilometers is outrageous.

Totally outrageous. I reckon it's about 12km. When the Mrs & I go down there, we rent a Honda Jazz for B1300/day, including all insurance etc! And they pick you up and drop you off at the airport free.

thanks, might use them (certainly wont use the beach guys and their clapped out jeep renagade open top like i did once with useless breaks!!)...1000 baht if renting for 11 days plus which i will be.....i take it you're allowed off the island for trips to krabi, phang nga etc?
