USVirgin
Unbelievable! Reading through the comments on the link, this was my favorite: [color:blue]'The new port manager had failed to notify the tuk-tuk drivers in advance of the change'. Priceless – just shows who's accountable to who on the island.[/color]
LizardKing
Hi, Right, sending in the Seals to take out the tuk-tuks would do Thailand/Phuket a favor. 2,000 Baht for a distance of likely not more than a few kilometers is outrageous. Sanuk! Totally outrageous. I reckon it's about 12km. When the Mrs & I go down there, we rent a Honda Jazz for B1300/day, including all insurance etc! And they pick you up and drop you off at the airport free.
Guest lazyphil
exactly what i'm doing in phuket soon, hell of alot cheaper and practical.....do you use budget cars?
LizardKing
No. http://davidcarrent.com Always excellent service. Once, we had to go back early, so I turned the car in early. They only charged me a half day. Wouldn't even get that in farangland IME! BTW, it's B1200/day. I misremembered wrongly .
Nervous God
Advantage of the smaller companies is that if you have a Thai license you often don't pay the full farang deposit or bar on your credit card. Blocking of 15 000 baht on your credit card can cause problems if in holiday mode.
LizardKing
True. David Car Rent just take an imprint of my card, never charge it. Budget in Bangkok did put B40k(!) on my card when we rented from them to go on a driving holiday.

LizardKing
Ya, no limits within LoS, including miles. You can't take it out of the country tho'. The cars at David all have been in good nick when I got them. And the fat chick that runs the place is a real sweetheart.
