But don't let me distract you' date=' there are a few good-cause wars out there that we need to start before things go all "pear shaped" as they say.

:rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl:

So please do tell, How Many Wars has America "Won" from a unilateral offensive?

The only one I can think off was the US Civil War when you were fighting amongst yourselves.

Korea Still officialy at War

Vietnam Gained Nothing

Iraq Big Business

Afghanistan Enough Said

America Starts wars but cannot finish them!

The Spanish-American War! ;)

And the Mexican-American War .... oops, that one's still not finished.

So what's the UK to show these days ... the Falklands? And the Argies are getting upptity again. :hmmm:

But then if the Republicans get in office again' date=' maybe everything will be 'okay' again after we start a few more wars.[/quote']

You've spent too much time in Thailand, it's more about stopping the free handout spending now.

But don't let me distract you, there are a few good-cause wars out there that we need to start before things go all "pear shaped" as they say.

And then, the ivory tower dems can sit back and complain about unnecessary wars, safe from terrorism for another few years, and never connecting the dots as to why they remain safer from terrorism. Same same like the democrats' paradox: crime is down, yet more criminals are in jail. How can it be possible?

We defeated Mexico in a land dispute in 1848 and took 'their' land, not that you'd recognize it nowadays. Still feels like Mexico around here. ;)

Odd thing about that ... almost no Mexicans wanted to live in the lands the US took from them in 1848. California's populations was about 20,000 (including 1,000 Gringos). There was nothing in Arizona but the little town of Tucson and a few even smaller south of that. New Mexico had a fair sized population, but all in the Rio Grande valley. I've seen the figure of 50,000 non-Indians given for the entire population of the "Mexican cession". Probably as many Mexicans as that sneak into the US each day now. (The US gummint's conscience obviously bothered it, since it paid Mexico and big hunk of money even though it didn't have to. Then Santy Anna needed more money and sold the "Gadsen Purchase" to the US a few years later. That's when the Mexican people finally got wise and kicked SA's butt out of office - and the country.)

Damn ... I thought we'd have a bigger feud going on in this thread. I need to turn in my stirrer's union card. :(

Shhhh! Next you'll be talking about the USN seaplane flying out of England that spotted the Bismark and radioed her position to the RN. (Or the USN destroyers and frigates that escorted convoys to England when the US was officially neutral. They even attacked U-boats when spotted.)

But it was pay back time. The RN let the US Navy use its bases in the Caribbean in the "undeclared war" with the Forggies in the 1790s. US merchant ships also joined RN guarded convoys in that area. America's first war after independence was against our valliant French "allies". :D
