Apart from BKK, try Singapore, Kuala Lumpur even Ho Chi Minh City (VN is a new SkyTeam member). Singapore Airlines flies SFO-SIN for only $1500 or so XMas time... and the further AirAsia flight to BKK is $100-200 or so. Hardly busting the wallet. Don't worry about USD at 30. It's been ~31-34 for 3 years now. It's a bitch if you have it anchored at 40 in your mind, but that was 5 years back. 500 baht is still only $15.
