cavanami
So what will change? nothing, IMO. All the clowns in USA politics need to work together for help all the people!! Trump voters carry Republicans in the Senate, while Pelosi claims victory in the House Propelled by an unprecedented surge of rank-and-file enthusiasm and a widespread suburban dissatisfaction with the GOP, Democrats were on track to win control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 2011 — and were even projected to gain more seats than in 2006, the year they delivered what President George W. Bush described as a “thumping.” ... https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-voters-carry-republicans-victory-senate-house-teeters-edge-041422472.html

Flashermac
"The party of the incumbent president tends to lose ground during midterm elections: over the past 21 midterm elections, the President's party has lost an average 30 seats in the House, and an average four seats in the Senate; moreover, in only two of those has the President's party gained seats in both houses." - Wikipedia The Republicans have lost control of the House, but they have actually strengthened their power in the Senate. Basically, this means that neither party will be able to get much done, which maybe isn't such a bad thing.
Steve
I never thought it was going to be a 'blue wave'. The house had a lot of seats up and the Dems came through. The senate was never going to be Democratic since the vast majorit of the senate seats were Dem seats and some of them were in states Trump won. The house is in smaller districts. I think the biggest take away is that the democratic socialist candidates made HUGE grounds. No way they could have challenged anyone 2 years ago and Bernie inspired the movement and it will only get bigger. They take on establishment Dems and win, and made races against Republicans close. They will be the backlash to establishment politics on both sides and the end of pro business, establishment Democrats. They have the young people and that is the future. Both parties should be worried. They aren't traditional Dems, just like the Trump voter isn't traditional Republican.
buffalo_bill
I read somewhere the Representatives could now ask for billionaire Donald´s tax declaration, that would be fun as such. Apart from this I don´t get it that still so many Americans indirectly voted for him. Lock him up. Good news, in the end.

Flashermac
They can ask for whatever they want, but it doesn't mean they'll get it. Obama has never let anyone see his university transcripts.

Flashermac
Ah, finally I found him. He's Steve King. Every time I googled Steven King all I got was the fiction writer. Steve King does look a bit like Darth Vader, even without the mask. This is the 9th time he's been reelected. https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/415441-americas-urban-rural-divide-deepens Exit polls showed three-quarters of voters said Americans are becoming more divided. ... The exit surveys showed Trump was a major factor in Tuesday’s elections. Nearly two thirds of voters said they cast their ballot for Congress either to support Trump (26 percent) or oppose him (38 percent). More voters said they were casting a ballot to support Trump than oppose him in Senate races in Missouri, Indiana and North Dakota, three states where Republicans beat Democratic incumbents. p.s. Reid Wilson, you better go back and learn how to write. You say the "urban-rural divide," and then write about suburban and rural. You do realise there's a different between urban and suburban, don't you?
