Ryder
An overview of Bangkoks biggest (some say best) superstore for computing in the Thai Capital. Panthip Plaza is 5 floors of computing. Each floor is full of PCs, laptops, games and accessory's. The Ground Floor and Mezzanine also have a KFC and Thai Restaurants also. If you need to replenish your funds, there are ATM machines on several floors as well. Ground Floor - Mostly computer desktops and featured items in the central area. You pay the most here but get the latest. Also here are plenty of mobile phone stalls, miscellaneous electric goods like fans, torches and nick-nacks. Mezzanine - Computer stores and Games 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Floor upwards... See video... Opening Hours are from 1000 to 2100 hrs. Flashermac
Panthip is still good for hardware, but the days of the cheap (pirated) software are over. You can find cheap software, but it is seldom the latest. Once upon a time every game appeared here for 100 baht as soon as it came out. Now the emphasis is on pirated movies. Also, being hassled by the porn touts is a pain in the butt. Good place to ogle girls though. p.s. There's an A&W rootbeer place too on the ground floor. Alfmaz
Haven't been to Pantip for a long time get hassled by people trying to sell you Porn. I now go to Fortune Town Phra Rama 9 a lot better http://www.bangkokpicture.com/shopping/fortunetown.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVsRbmK7za8&feature=related
Mekong
Many years ago there was a good selection at Seacon Square but nowadays IMHO the best place for Hardware and Software is IT Zeer in Rangsit, it has so much floorspace it makes Panthip look like a cowshed and because it is away from the usual tourist areas the prices are more reasonable. Alfmaz
IT Zeer is good if you live and work in Bangkok, but the time and the money spent on a Taxi getting there, you are better going to Phra Rama 9. I never by computer hardware like Hard drives, electronics, Graphics card or expensive Items you are better getting a warranty in your own country. Ryder
Well it's sad to hear the negative talk from some of you, I've never had any issues with the camera's bought (used in all my films and photography), laptops purchased and hardware obtained. I guess some people just aren't suited to certain places or have more luck elsewhere?
Nervous God
I used IT Zeer for over 10 years, but now also too far, so I use Fortune a lot, MUCH easier to get to than Plantip.
zen4dummies
Well it's sad to hear the negative talk from some of you, I've never had any issues with the camera's bought (used in all my films and photography), laptops purchased and hardware obtained.I guess some people just aren't suited to certain places or have more luck elsewhere? The main problem is (as others have said) running the gauntlet of touts selling porn/games/dvds and whatever else. I have had 6-8 of them lined up to stick stuff in my face. The IT Mall is slightly more expensive but has higher quality movies and no touts. Pahthip Plaza is more convenient to go to for me but sometimes not worth it. Having said that I have had 2 desktops built for me at TKCom on the ground floor and they are a pleasure to deal with, assuming you get the right person to deal with. zen zen
