Why not just use a specialist door to door international removals company? Probably more expensive but from my experience hassle and stress free. allistar
Not everyone works for a business that picks up the tab on a door to door overseas move.
Horneytorney
i think most important and cost saving is a reasonable selection, what to move and what to throw away (or store somewhere else in your homeland). don't move your oven and ski gear to LOS! don't move furniture and kitchenware, except very high and! dump all books and magazines and buy a e-reader or tablet! etc. then we are not talking about a container but several boxes
dean
If the actual cost of the shipping from Los Angeles to Bangkok is reasonable next spring (2013), I may ship a container over, as my wife will have been away from LOS for over 2 years and will qualify for no custom taxes on most items. I plan on shipping a Harley Davison over, a jet ski, a pool table and a high end riding lawn mower and personal stuff. The motorcycle and jet ski, I may sell to off set the cost of shipping the container.
Horneytorney
if you have a work permit you also qualify for custom exemption for most household goods. however I doubt that a jet ski and a Harley Davidson fall under this exemption as they are not really normal household goods. the pool table and the lawn mower should be ok
