Coss
My understanding is, that you can have a Domain name, i.e. MyDomain.com, and direct, via DNS entries, the http/web browsing traffic to one server, and the email traffic associated with this domain to another, even if the servers are in different countries. Being self taught, I think this is true, but would value the confirmation of those who actually know. Cheers Coss
Pom Michael
Yes, the email is controlled by the MX record - so what you propose is easily done. If your domain host allows you to handle this yourself (via a web interface) it is very simple to do.

kamui
Bonza Cobba! You can do this for example for free with Google Apps email. Forward the MX records to Google Apps and you can use your own email address like Cossinlos@lostinlaos.com running on Googles severs. http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=33352
Bar4
Yep just did this myself. Got the shits with my web & email host as the email was always timing out. Went to an email only provider for an account. How did I do it? The old host still has the DNS records pointed to it. At the old host you change the DNS MX & A records to the new email host. Got it? Easy huh? Cheers, Mark
