Flashermac
I have been sent a graduate student's paper to proof and edit. However, I can't edit it. It seems to be "engraved in stone", more or less. What do I do to open it for editing? I've never had the problems with papers before.
khunsanuk
Hi, Would this work: http://www.pdfescape.com/ ? Not tried it, just the first link that popped up in Google. Sanuk!
Flashermac
Thanks. The server was slow and all of the programs seemed so damned awkward that I had the student send it to me as a Word file. Saves a helluva lot of time.
radioman
Whilst anything Adobe has all sorts of nasty limitations, some of which can be got around with 3rd party software, one of the niceties some would say of the pdf format is that it generally prevents changes and preserves the original. You can generally add comments I think but that is about it. Certainly you want it in Word or other doc format if you are going to edit it. Adobe Acrobat Reader is, er, a reader. baa99
It seems Word 2013 can import a pdf for editing. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/edit-or-make-changes-to-a-pdf-file-HA010275433.aspx Word opens the content in a new file. The converted document might not look exactly the same page-to-page as the original PDF file. For example, the pages might break in different places.
