Sad that red shirt bully boys can kill people with immunity ...

Perhaps they will be able to serve Suthep with his arrest warrant for murder and insurrection now...but don't hold your breath.

You have lost all credibility in this discussion, Flash and Jitagorn, for your failure to come up with a single reform that seems to be the mantra of the yellow shirts, whom you support, and what this struggle for democracy (ho ho ho) is supposedly all about.

Sad day for Thai democracy.

An unelected yellow shirt mob of bully boys allowed to disrupt national elections with impunity, disenfranchise the majority of Thai citizens for the 3rd time in a row now, bring the country to its knees economically and the army steps in to defend them.

TIT. Interesting times we live in. The world is watching.

The world could give a flying fark about the nonsense in Thailand...bigger fish to fry...

http://www.bangkokpost.com/most-recent/410731/orders-1-2-army-takes-over-capo

Orders 1, 2: Army takes over Capo

Martial law commander Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha signed the "first announcement" to set up the Peace-Keeping Command Centre (PKCC) under the military, and dissolve the government's Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (Capo) set up under the Internal Security Act, effective immediately.

Under the "second announcement" of the martial law order, which is not a coup, Gen Prayuth, the army chief, declared himself director of the PKCC.

The PKCC declared it has taken control of all security operations, nationwide - the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc), Royal Thai Police Office, army, navy, air force, Interior Ministry and relevant government agencies

The centre has almost identical duties to the Capo. It is "to be responsible for taking action to prevent and mitigate any situation which may affect peace and order and security" throughout the country, according to the accouncement.

The PKCC "is empowered to enforce all sections under the Martial Law Act" to try to quickly restore peace to the country.

It is also empowered to "invite individuals to report to authorities" (detain) to testify or hand over documents and other evidence for use in peace-keeping operations.

Also under the order, the Capo was ordered to cease all operations, effective immediately. All personnel, except those of the three armed forces, are to return to their original units.

Hi,

Sad day for Thai democracy.

While I don't disagree, what is the alternative? Wait and see how many more people get killed while the goverment and police stand around with their dicks in their hand?

Who do you think those weapons they found were meant for? And what do you think they would/could have done with them?

Sanuk!

The alternative is an open election! This new military coup will be as successful as the last one.

KS,

I can see your point about escalation in violence. I hope this is just martial law and that elections can now proceed in a few months time with the army ensuring that the democratic process takes place peacefully.

Bear in mind that it is Suthep and the yellow shirts that have been stirring up trouble for the last 6 months and had vowed to “force†elected senators to resign. I don’t know what they were going to use to “force†them?

An alternative scenario would have been to get through this week and allow Suthep to hand himself in next Monday. You've got to ask, in whose interest was it that this week should not pass peacefully.
