Flashermac
I love the left-hand drive Jeep. Brings back memories. And the Thai Army still has three-quarters.

radioman
Despite the military budget any visit to a Thai military facility is like a step back in time, almost everything is so antiquated it's more working museum than working military. Flashermac
The National Museum in Laos! It looks like high school kids did it. Not to mention rusting M79s and M16s laying around for anyone to pilfer. Plus a board from Comrade Hoo Flung Dung's bed.
Coss
Aahhh, but then there are the gems. The People's Security Museum, a pythonesque tribute to an early James Bond movie, ask Munchie. Also the Army Museum, surprisingly well done for what it is.
Flashermac
The talk about the glorious Pathet Lao Army's "victory" over the royalist government is nonsense. Hanoi marched in and put the Pathet Lao in charge. A Lao reugee friend now in Oz told me she remembers seeing the NVA march through her town, with no one daring to say a word about it. And the new "fearless leader" they put in just happened to be half-Vietnamese and raised in Hanoi.
