Flashermac
THAI reroutes Europe flights to avoid Ukraine airspace Thai Airways International (THAI) announced Friday that it has rerouted THAI flights to and from Europe to avoid the Ukraine airspace. The rerouting was made after a Malaysian airliner was shot down while in Ukrainian airspace crossing the rebel-held east of the country. THAI affirmed that no flights are operating in this airspace and that the rerouting would cause some flights to be delayed up to half an hour. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/business/THAI-reroutes-Europe-flights-to-avoid-Ukraine-airs-30238837.html

Dexi
Strong condemnation from Obama today, although he may not be in a very strong position as the US also shot down a civilian airliner a few yrs ago ( Iranian ? ).
chelseafan
Wrong! When I last flew to Lebanon, they made a detour to avoid going over Syria, adding an extra hour to the flight. Ok poor phrasing, I should of said "a lot of the time". Planes reguarly fly over Iraq for example. http://www.bbc.co.uk...onitor-28364306
robaus
MAS was just unlucky.... shot down by low IQ terrorists. Steve
While in America Tea Partyers blaming Obama some how. Tragic. Countries have the technology to know the difference between civilian and military and can communicate with planes as well. A group with no training, expertise or technology and equipment to distinguish friend from foe was/is a disaster waiting happen. This is so sad and so avoidable. If this does not get world governments to act in unison and one voice to get to a solution and take proper actions nothing will.
baa99
Russia probably supplied the crew for the SAM. Europe will do nothing, since Russia does supply the natural gas.
Flashermac
Rebel commander suggests many died days before doomed flight over Ukraine... MOSCOW (AP) -- A top pro-Russia rebel commander in eastern Ukraine has given a bizarre version of events surrounding the Malaysian jetliner crash - suggesting many of the victims may have died days before the plane took off. The pro-rebel website Russkaya Vesna on Friday quoted Igor Girkin as saying he was told by people at the crash site that "a significant number of the bodies weren't fresh," adding that he was told they were drained of blood and reeked of decomposition. The Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 was shot down Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. The plane was flying 10,000 meters above an area where Ukrainian forces have been fighting separatist rebels. Each side accuses the other of downing the plane. http://www.redflagne...ht-over-ukraine
Bangkoktraveler
What do bodies in a jet look like that have been hit by a fragmentary missile, the jet decompressed instantly and then crashed 30,000 feet straight down?
baa99
Only a small portion would be killed directly by the missile. I suspect most died from impact with the ground.
