Songkran celebrations will be allowed next month but drinking alcohol at events, foam parties, water splashing and powder smearing will be prohibited.

The decision was made at Friday's meeting of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha

Bangkok maybe but I bet the villages still do it

My old place it was very traditional, a village gathering where all the old people had their hands washed, the village council gave every old person a small cash gift, 50 baht going on memory, even my mum (aussie) got the 100 baht. Government gave out 500 baht, she missed that.

Washing of the Buddha statues,

Then water splashing and drunkenness
