Long Gun
GTG Not that I'm feeling rejected because my post, way back on page 11 of this thread, seems to be the only one you haven't chewed on, but ..... in that post I asked, in response to your statement: I think Money IS their absolute incentive for becoming a bg. Almost certainly a major factor initially but what do you think of Cleo Odzer's views about the other ways in which their choice enriches their lives and empowers them? and similar sentiments have arisen several times since in this thread. Just as a refresher, Cleo concluded: "I believed Patpong prostitutes had advantages over non-prostitute Thai women who didn't belong to the rich upper class. They had more independence and opportunities. They were more worldly. They met and maintained contact with people from around the globe. They had experiences they'd never otherwise be exposed to, such as flying in planes and being taken abroad to work. People taught them to swim, bowl, play snooker, drive motorbikes. They learned English and other languages. They became daring. Having broken one of society's taboos, they dared to break more. They went out alone at night and traveled on their own. They met people easily. They developed skills to obtain what they wanted. Becoming deft at hustling they recognized their ability to influence their environment. They stepped into ventures confident that they'd find someone along the way to pay. Most importantly, they had money. Money allowed them to fulfil familial obligations while providing freedom of movement. They felt pride in seeing their parents' new houses, built with their earnings. They returned to their villages as superstars distributing alms. With money, they bought the symbols of success: clothes, accessories, and electronics. It gave them the base to lay plans for the future. Money also gave them leeway to escape bad relationships, unpleasant situations, and the harshness of village life. It provided the wherewithal to do nothing if that's what they wanted. Patpong itself offered the comfort and stability of an esoteric community. The girls had their own friends, VD doctor, moneylender. They had a favourite afterhours club. They knew the Patpong taxi and motorbike drivers who took them home. They knew the staff of short- time hotels." "Working Patpong offered adventure, excitement and romance. It was an alternative to low-paid, long-hour factory work or other non- skilled labour. It was easier than planting rice. It was one place they could return to in time of need. It was a place where women could express their anger at the way society fashioned Thai men - an outlet for revenge where women could reject them, at least verbally"
bibblies
Yeah, that's kinda what I'm trying to say too. There are some postive things that these girls do that just don't seem to be sanctioned by mainstream Thai culture. (I have seen ordinary Thai girls have fun and it isn't quite the same thing.) pattaya127
I'm not too sure of that. Men want 'fast' sex nowadays ie. less 'courting time'. ------------------------------ In your dreams.Women, and even gtgs can be pretty fast these days. Guest
My answer is, to me, sex is a beautiful thing that one should do with a person s/he loves. That's all. Is it difficult to understand? I hope not [] GTG do you think most girls grow up without the same desires you have. They want family and love just like you but these girls come from different circumstances. I wish you'd get on the net and do some research and maybe your conclusions about these girls would change. Read Stickman's story about one bargirl just entering the scene. http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/reader/reader7.html It's a pretty sad situation for most of the girls. MaiDai
Hi As stated else where I am a newbie on the bar scene so my opinions may be naive and very likely to be revised after further personal experiences. [color:blue]?Many Bgs are very shy in the beginning, and there are definitely places where they will not go with a customer until they can stomach it?.color=blue> Yes and I guess some girls give up because, after trying, they cannot yet stomach it, or other don?t even consider entering on the scene because they know they will never be able to go with a customer. But these girls are still considered as ?Good Girls?. I don?t mean to start a discussion about morality (that I could not sustain anyway ) but IMHO the choice of a girl to became a prostitute\Bar girl is, in most cases, more a matter of money or what she is able to bear in order to get them. I don?t believe that girls, who choose to be bargirls, had necessary to be champions of low morality, unless, of course, we don?t want to consider working only for money as a sign of immorality. Hence, IMHO, they should not be labelled for life as ?Bad Girls? nor they deserve to be [color:blue]?detested? color=blue>by anyone. pattaya127
A newbie is one only for a period of 3 days max, if one keeps one's head clear. After that, it's just stories and detail work piling up. You seem to have covered the ground pretty well, so stop calling yourself a newbie, you are one of us now, no return anymore, just keep following the arrow (cupid's)......... Conforming to a local and mutable standard of right. Having the quality of general expediency. It is sayd there be a raunge of mountaynes in the Easte, on one syde of the which certayn conducts are immorall, yet on the other syde they are holden in good esteeme; wherebye the mountayneer is much conveenyenced, for it is given to him to goe downe eyther way and act as it shall suite his moode, withouten offence. Goodthaigirl
Long Gun, Sorry I over looked your post. I didn't mean to. Why don't you start a new thread and we can talk about it. This thread is getting too long. See ya, GTG
