Kahn. Only because he's the one player on the list whose absence would have made the biggest difference to the shape of the tourney.

Oliver Kahn is my choice so far also, I suppose it depends on what happens in the final game as to who stars in the game, seems strange that Ronaldinho even though getting a red card is still eligible for the golden ball award....

Although I seem to be at odds w/ Doxy Blue over past Seaman issues (did I say that?), I agree w/ him 100% that Ollie K of Germany is the choice thus far. More than any other player, he has put the side on his shoulders and carried them through.

Still, the final may change this - it might be one of the three Brazilian R's, or even Roberto Carlos, if Brazil wins. One would expect the award to go to the winner of the victorious side, right? Anyone know the last time (if ever) the award went to a member of a non-winning side?

Please, anyone but R. Carlos. So far he's given away at least a dozen posessions on the counter by shooting 10 yards wide or high instead of making a pass. After Roque Jr. he's the biggest fraud on the team.

Not to get onanistic, but my only Seaman issue is that he shouldn't be playing anymore.

I know we are talking about golden balls and semen here, but I will leave the onanism (masturbation) aside for the moment and focus on football.

Well, db, that gun of yours is now pointed squarely between your eyes after you first insult one of the best keepers in the world (Seaman), and then possibly the best wing back, as well as free kick specialist, on the planet (R Carlos). I have been following both of these players for many, many years, and can say w/out a doubt that they are STILL pure quality.

Anyhow, this is sports, so we all have our opinions/likes/dislikes, but me thinks the two of us need to find a desolate soi, have a few whiskeys, and get ready for a good old fashioned wild wild Bangkok gunfight. Winner gets the girl of his choice from the 2nd floor of Mandarin, while the loser is forced to spend 2 hours at 16 Darlings on New Petchburi Road. If you have never been, ask Racha for a review. It was once "the bar" on that part of the strip. Now, well, it is....downright scary.

Cheers,

The two players you mention are probably first-choice for the "All Press-Clippings" squad. Seaman didn't do much to keep in England in it though he sure did help them out of it, and Arsenal still would have had the PL without him. RC is just sad. RC is just hype.

Mandarin is a dump.

Bang, you're dead; Blackstone Rangers.

db; Can not agree with you about Roberto Carlos he is one of the best players around and his power kicking is unmatched by anybody in the game though admittedly the last game he was not at his best,

Though I do agree with you on Seaman,

Here is a funny article below I picked up online;

And we've got to mention Seaman haven't we?

We have! I think he might retire from international football - I just wish he hadn't done it 45 minutes early.

But did Ronaldinho mean to score? I think he did.

Did you? It was very delicate wasn't it? It just sort of floated in.

Well I think he knew Seaman was a bit knacked and went for it. Give him the benefit of the doubt.

Also if you think the Mandarin is a dump you should try out the 16 Darlings then you would know the true meaning of a dump, LOL !!

Gotta go with Freidel, 2nd only to Killer Kahn. He spent the majority of his time fending off waves of attack after attack because of the American's style of play and he has played superbly. Seaman also. Not because he's from Arsenal. With the exception of the Ronaldhino free kick (did I get right LG?---lol) of which an argument can be made it was not his fault. He has playe well also, but I gotta give the edge to Freidel.
