These dorms do not allow males to visit, dear Friend. What my brother owns is a big building in the same compound as my mother's house and males are not allowed either, and the gate is closed at 10 PM. It is neccesary that way becuase most of these girls' parents ususally trust the owners to manage it that way. So, a few "naughty ones" must do their business outside and they are normally asked to find a new place to stay.

I posted once that when I was in high school in Thailand (1967), we debated about ?girls must stay virgin, but boys can play?. It was a very heated debate for most of the females wanted equal values, (not that we wanted to fool around in those days). One thing said was ?to be a good wife, a woman should be a virgin until her wedding day?, we (females) were so furious that we wanted the list of how being a ?virgin? had anything to do with being a good wife. Needless to say, the teachers took the subject off the debate subjects and we dropped the debate. I ventured to ask some of those men, years later, when they were married, whether their wives were virgin, they all said ?yes?, and I knew one of the wives well and I popped the same question. She just looked demurely and gave me a sweet smile and said ?Dear friend, it is a secret whether I was or not, what important is he thought I was.? Loved the answer.

 

 

 

It is concluded that the disdain/dissaproval on pre-marital sex seems to apply more to females only than males. I know one thing, Thai females have progressed much more than the Thai men attitude,

 

 

 

?are a "rich man's game".

 

I do not think it is always so. Many of these women got some support but I would not call it rich. What I wonder is how their futures fare.

I have a classmate who studied with me in Thammasart Univ. who is a colnel in the Thai Army. She is one of the most feminine person I have ever met. It has been a long time ago that I last saw her, but at that time she was single and I was told that many of the Thai Army officers were single. No "good men" for the officers I guess for most of these officers hesitate to marry non-commision officers.

Yep, I've noticed that you don't get much help from the much heralded one too. Sadly, it kind of conforms to stereotypes about Thai women.

You fail to say what part of Asia you have lived for 12 years. I found that here (Asia), more then any places in the West relationships are very permanent. Unless you are speaking of the western expat and his Asian GF?s he tends to run through very quickly, since he dumps them as soon as they expect some permanence.

The above is interesting, I have never read much about how frequently the farang dumps the TG. Nearly all the stories on the net are about how the BG has 5 "love you no shit" boyfriends around the world, and dumps them when the "sick buffalo/father in monkey house/sister needs operation" money runs out (or is it:"buffalo in jail/monkey needs sister/house needs operation? --I forget).

 

 

 

BTW, although I'm being a little light, I'm not being sarcastic, and hope it doesn't seem like it. I really am interested in what I might expect from having a "good Thai girl" as a girlfriend. Really, I feel that these dorms contain more good girls than bad ones. My family have girls who graduated in that town, moved on to work or to higher education who come to visit often.

 

 

 

My mother also helps managing the dorm and she actually less strict than my brother. Last semester, he told 4 of the girls to find a new place becuase of some rules were broken more than 3 times, even though the income is needed (to pay for the loand on the building). My mother and his wife seem to understand young girls better.

 

 

 

By the way, if you know some Thai language, these girls seem to be interested in Foreingers a lot, they were quite comfortable with my husband (who know 3 words in Thai) the last time he was there and actually tried to speak English to him. You can be "too experience" for these young ones though, dangerous !!!

So Jasmine, what are the rules for these dorms? I mean, the girls aren't locked up all night and escorted all day, right? If they are "bad girls" and want to go out on a date with a guy during the day would that be ok, or would they get kicked out of the dorm?
